Maybe You Need Support

So yesterday I decided to tackle a task that’s been evading me for quite some time. I decided that I would use ChatGPT to support me in staying on task and to talk through things as needed.

I was so excited to finally be making progress on this thing that’s been nagging at me for weeks (well, months… a lot of months). Although I was making incremental progress in part, after a while I realized I wasn’t actually making considerable progress on the whole. I became increasingly agitated as I realized that despite all the work I’d done —and that I worked all day—I hadn’t actually made much visible progress.

Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist’s quote: “For some of us no matter how hard we work, we’re still in the same place. That’s a sign we need support.” Large bold white text overlays an image of a woman exerting herself while running inside a human-sized hamster wheel, with the Share & Let’s Live! podcast logo watermark in the lower right corner; the footer displays “mdillondesigns.com/blog”.

I tell the full story on today’s podcast and the really unexpected conclusion I came to as I compared the amount of time I put in to the amount of work I pulled off. But as frustrated as I was by what I hadn’t accomplished, I realized something important when I looked at just how much effort it had taken me to do all I did.

If life for you has primarily been uphill, and you find yourself wondering why everything seems to take so much effort, press play above. I’d like to tell you a story.

Blessings,

I Can’t Do This

Sooo…. even though I am Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist I am not always feeling empowered. I honestly became empowering for others as a result of NOT being empowered. I speak life into others because I had to speak life into myself. I know what it is to not hear those words, so I give it… both to myself and to others.

This post is not my typical find the blessings in the bullsh*t post. This is my “today was some bullsh*t” post. I started to not post it, because it’s not super positive and it’s really honest at a time I was really not doing well emotionally or any other kind of -ly. AND I find it valuable to be honest, whether good or bad. If for no other reason, it’s important to know that people can relate to your low places and that just because a person is putting out positive content doesn’t mean they don’t have low moments.

So this is raw. This is open. If you’re new to me, this is probably the opposite of what I usually post. AND I feel it has value. I have a general rule that I follow my gut (not my fear of embarrassment), so when I feel compelled to post, I post.

So here it is…

I recorded this yesterday morning. So much has happened since then that I cannot believe it was just yesterday. I actually just went on Facebook to double check that it was actually yesterday that I was so emotionally done that I posted “I can’t do this. I’m so tired. It’s gotta get better. I just can’t” because that’s exactly how I was feeling….

I got halfway through it yesterday, but just didn’t have it in me to finish editing it until today. So I’m posting it now.

If you saw that post and wondered “what the heck is going on with Marlene?” here’s your answer. Press play above.

Quick disclaimer/info in case you’re wondering. Although I was very upset and life is holding me down on the mat currently, I am not a danger to myself or anyone else. I am safe, just sad. It’s been a lot with no recovery time. And it really got to me yesterday. Since then I’ve rested a lot. Laughed when things were funny. (This video helped A LOT.) Listened to some great audiobooks. Slept with the window open. Cleaned a bit. And I’m a lot closer to neutral, which is progress. Things have not changed, but my emotional response to them has mellowed. So I’m grateful for that.

Anywho, thank you for being here. Thank you for your support of my work and my podcast.

And please know that ANY amount is helpful. I have never received a $5 gift and scoffed. I’m grateful because it means I have enough to buy eggs, to get an extra gallon of gas, to say “yes” if my child asks for a snack. It all matters and I’m appreciative. So thank you sooo much.

Choosing Me Even If You Don’t

Today, I experienced a new level… well a new lesson… in self-acceptance. To avoid a long drawn out description (since I’m too sleepy), I’m just gonna say, press play below. I explain it all on today’s episode.

Will I ditch all this inner work to keep you?” Large white text overlays a portrait of a woman with natural curly hair, with the Share & Let’s Live! podcast logo watermark in the lower right corner; the footer displays “mdillondesigns.com/blog”.

Life Is Lifing & I’m Chillin’

Today was a ridiculously uphill, WTF type of day. I woke up with the right vibe, had the right focus, but the day still went left.

This is not my first “bad” day. AND this was one of the first times that I didn’t let the inconveniences of the day cause me to spiral out of control or make desperate decisions in an attempt to salvage my vision of the day.

I definitely had a few minutes of extreme anxiety, but even during that time I was listening to my intuition and making sound decisions. I got to see my new affirmation (“I am supported.”) play out. And I have numerous reasons to embrace my other new one (“I am proud of myself.”)

This is a bit more of a storytime with a few lessons sprinkled in. All today’s incidents were fresh so keep that in mind. Check out today’s podcast above.

Blessings!
