Next Level Self-Acceptance

I spent most of my life trying to be like everyone else and failing miserably at it. For seasons, I’ve prided myself in being different, WHILE wishing I could just be like everyone else.

“I was never meant to fit in. I’m meant to do things differently. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I get to do this thing my way. My unique path is right for me.

It seemed like life was easier for those who followed society’s path. Being an outlier seemed to be the hard way. But what do you do when what seems like the hard way is the only way that you know how to be?

Well, recently, I’ve started to accept that it’s my time to just be the truest version of me… being different AND accepting myself as I am is what this stage is about. I share a bit about this on the podcast.

If you are neurodivergent or just don’t tend to follow the path that society says is the “right” way, I believe you’ll gain some encouragement from this.

There’s nothing wrong with you. You get to be different. You get to be unique. You get to move the way you are wired, and nobody has to get it. As long as you get you and don’t abandon yourself, so much more is possible for you… and for me, too.

Enjoy the podcast.

Blessings!

What’s Got You Feeling Like That?

When you’re feeling off, take a second to scan your body and reflect on the events of your day. Maybe there’s a nagging pain or tension that you’re not noticing. Maybe an interaction or thought is playing in the background of your mind.

See It Differently

“A huge part of my healing journey has been in accepting that much of what I believed are my character flaws, are actually common signs of executive dysfunction and neurodivergence.” —Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist

Today, I couldn’t sleep… well, wouldn’t sleep… due to anxiety. Let’s just say that just because my body doesn’t muster up the energy and focus to complete a task doesn’t mean I don’t experience anxiety knowing it’s not done. And when there enough of those not done things, and some of them are really important, I find myself up late working (or just staring/scrolling) because somewhere in there a part of me believes the energy, focus, and drive are still on the way. Don’t want to close up shop too early. AND the other part of me feels I haven’t earned sleep… that I don’t deserve it because I didn’t do enough.

Yeah, saying that feels really sad and honestly like self-abuse. Denying someone sleep is a form of abuse. Verbally attacking someone for their shortcomings is completely unacceptable. However, we do it constantly to ourselves….

When we take a second to step back and actually process through our self-criticism, and challenges with self-love, we may discover that it didn’t begin with us.

We can see ourselves so differently. We can see how we pressed through, showed up, and overcame so much….

I’ll just leave it there….

Ruminate on Your Accomplishments Not Your Mistakes

On today’s podcast, I shared about the NEXT LEVEL traumatic experience I witnessed yesterday and how I showed up in my power to be a support to all those involved.

Meme: Image: Curly haired woman looking up, index finger against her chin as if thinking. Text states: “Are you more inclined to ruminate on your mistakes or your accomplishments? Have you ever wondered why?”

It was wild to see myself take a leadership role in a situation that had technically so little to do with me. I am so grateful that I was present and so grateful for my amazing daughter who stepped up first. I followed her lead.

After all was said and done, rather than celebrate my accomplishment, my strength, my fortitude, my leadership… Nah. I was picking apart the one thing that I did wrong and ruminating over the one thing that I wish I hadn’t left to someone else (even though it was THEIR JOB, not mine). I gave myself the hardest time and glossed over all the good I did.

And after a while I sat with that and thought about where it comes from…. So to hear what happened and what I learned from it, check out today’s podcast. I believe it will help you, too.

Blessings!
