“As we learn, grow, and experience life, it’s important that we evolve. Periodically, we need to check in with ourselves and see if our current beliefs belong to us or someone else. ” — Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist

“Communication and connection has evolved. The way a person chooses to do relationship is not wrong just because it doesn’t match the old standard.”

Today’s podcast is a combination of venting and educating. I think many of us DO NOT THINK for ourselves. We pass around old tired beliefs, many which are not inclusive.
Much of society is structured around being like everyone else and doing things as the majority does, and doesn’t leave room for diverting from baselines and social “norms.”
As an introverted, neurodivergent human who deals with social anxiety, I’ve grown tired of hearing people treat extroversion as the standard and introversion as a form of immaturity that people need to get over.
It’s insulting that the alternate ways I choose to connect and communicate are considered as “fake” because I do it in ways that are more comfortable for me. I’m over being treated like a misfit of society because I’d rather text than talk on the phone, or that I’m delusional for feeling close to friends I’ve made online, that I’ve never physically met.
There isn’t only one way…. where being extroverted is right and introverted is wrong. Or where neurotypical is right and neurodivergent is wrong.
We are all different and finding ways to get through life—and even enjoy it—in ways that feel good to us. Let’s stop judging people for doing things differently than we do. Let’s stop assuming our way is right and anyone else’s way is wrong.

We don’t always have control over our lives or at least not as much control as we would like. Sometimes our family members will interrupt us, when we’re trying to have our moments of peace (“me time”) and it can be infuriating.

In the past, these interruptions would “blow my mood” and ruin my whole day. But today I didn’t give in to that. I couldn’t let them ruin my whole day.
I think that just setting that intention was enough for me to receive guidance on how to get back into alignment. And I am so grateful.
This is the cool story I share on today’s podcast. I also share a new (to me) mindfulness practice that came to me and help me get back into alignment. Check it out.
