Priorities: I Want More

Honesty moment…. Seeing people live their “best life” while in miserable relationships (simply because they’ve got that two person income), sometimes makes me feel like a fool for thinking they deserve better. Based on their priorities, that life is satisfactory for them.

I want more, though.

————–

I want extraordinary. I want love that matches what I give. I want reciprocity. I want more smiles that sad days. I want friendship. I want romance and dates and shared interests. I want what so many believe you can’t get all in one person. But I don’t believe it’s outrageous BECAUSE I EXIST and I want someone who loves like me. I think it’s logical to believe that in billions of people on this Earth, there’s at least one other person who wants the same because they are the same.

And what a beautiful, magical life we’ll have together, sharing our in common loves, while sharing the aspects of us that are different. How magical can that life be that we get to teach each other, and learn from each other, and share our commonalities.

I love that thought. I don’t have to limit myself by what others believe is possible. Our lives are based on what WE each believe is possible and can happen for us. So I’m choosing to believe I don’t have to settle. I get to have beautiful, romantic, true love. I get to give fully of myself to someone who cherishes my heart and I get to do the same for him. I choose to believe that what others feel is impossible is fully possible for me and that at the exact right time we’ll meet. I get to let having nothing less than that be a priority for me. Others can choose to have according to their beliefs.

I don’t have to settle. AND I don’t have to look at what you have as settling. I can respect your priorities. That’s mature. I can respect what you value. That’s growth. I can let you love what you love, and I love what I love and not feel what you choose or what I choose is superior, or inferior.

Do what works for you. I’ll do what works for me. And I’m grateful that I got this opportunity to process through this and realize that neither of us are settling. We’re prioritizing. And it’s all okay.

———-

I’m grateful I get a second chance. This time I will choose, rather than be chosen. I will observe, rather than ignore. 🚩🚩🚩 I will move forward into the obvious presence of love, rather than stumble in blindly out of a sense of fear. I’ve survived alone so that doesn’t scare me anymore. I love myself so much more, now. My standard is rising as I grow and learn.

I want and deserve love that feels like love. And, honestly, so do you. 💞

Make It Tolerable

There are some things in life that we don’t want to do, but may have to do. What I am learning is that I can find ways to make the heavy stuff bearable.

I can listen to good music while I do that task I’ve been putting off. I can use my Pomodoro timer and reward myself for my focused time blocks by watching Bridgerton during my breaks.

When I hated my job, I would leave the house early and go to the lake before work. I would grab my lunch and go back to the lake to decompress and return.

When I grocery shop, or have to go to places notorious for having long lines, I put my headphones on and listen to fun music, or play a game on my phone. I listen to biographies and mysteries and sexy romance novels while I drive. I watch movies while I clean. I make delicious sauces to drizzle over vegetables so eating them is pleasurable.

So much of life we try to muscle through it, when we could just find ways to make it more palatable. We feel like everything has to be hard and unpleasant. But why?

If that’s works for you, go for it. But I want to enjoy my life more. There are aspects of life I would gladly not do, but they’re part of my experience. If I’ve gotta do ’em, I’m gonna find a way to enjoy myself before, after, or during. Maybe you can, too.

I talk about this on today’s podcast. Check it out!

Sh*t, We Here, Now

Day 8 “Sh*t, We Here, Now” #IAMtheONE Share & Let’s Live! #Podcast Series w/ Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist

Sometimes life throws sh*t at us that doesn’t make sense, stuff that doesn’t seem fair… Sometimes, it’s far worse than we could’ve ever imagined… lightyears beyond our worst case scenario.

Press play to listen to today’s podcast. FYI I cuss so wait ’til the kids and elders aren’t around. Blessings!

We always have a choice. We can make it worse by being miserable on top of our misery, or we can throw up our hands and say, “Sh*t, we here, now.”

We can think of all the ways and reasons this moment sucks, or we can choose to see it as it is, and choose to remain present. It may not serve us, in the current moment, to think of all the reasons why this happened. We’re here now. And it may not serve us to think of all the ways this situation will get worse in the future. That type of thinking, when we’re furious and frustrated only makes matters worse.

And I’m not saying it’s easy. It’s hard as f*ck. AND we still get to choose. We don’t have control over certain things that happen in our lives, all we can do is control our response. That often starts by interrupting our thoughts. When all that frustration and overwhelm tries to take over, we have to choose to pause the flow of thoughts….

When you’re about to lose your sh*t, like I was just seconds ago, it helps to have a mantra. I just got quiet, slowed my breathing, and began to repeat, “In the present moment, all is well. In the present moment, all is well. In the present moment….”
Find one that works for you. Maybe yours will be, “Sh*t, we here now. What’s one thing that I CAN do?”

We’re getting through this! We’re not making the news. 😆 We will behave ourselves and B R E A T H E. 😌 (BTW Prayers and shout outs to all my people in the “sandwich generation.” Not easy. Let’s BREATHE extra. 😆)

Anywho… today’s podcast is empowering… and funny. I cuss a lot, but it makes sense. If these words resonated with you, check out the podcast above or below.

What About Our Choices?

When you’re an intelligent person and find yourself in a stupid situation, it’s hard not to feel like an idiot. However, what I realized today, is that manipulative people are phenomenal at using various tools to work around a person’s intelligence. They get crafty to get what they want.

“Society programs women to prioritize being chosen. We’re not often taught that it’s safe and right to choose.... Let ‘em call you ‘picky.’ Choice is empowerment.”

Woke up and had the weirdest experience, that allowed me to see something that I never noticed before.

I ended up coming across something I wrote many years ago (it was like an essay or well-written journal entry) that gave me insight into how I ended up in relationship with my narcissistic ex. After reading through this document that I don’t remember writing, I was able to—with my current awareness—see how I ended up in that toxic situation.

If you’ve ever looked back on a relationship and wondered, “How could I be so stupid?” or “How the heck did I get fooled by that idiot?” I’ll share with you one of my major takeaways. When a person sees that we’re smart, they may tap into our emotions instead to bypass our intelligence.

When a person sees that we’re smart, they may tap into our emotions instead to bypass our intelligence.

Anywho, I’m so grateful I was up scrolling FB early this morning and came across a post that led me to stumble upon this document. It led me on a journey that led to some deeper healing. I realized I wasn’t playing the fool, although I was played by one. I wasn’t using my intelligence. I was following my heart…. and my heart was being manipulated.

I also discovered that the groundwork for this person was already laid. All they had to do was tap into it.

I share all about this on today’s podcast. This is a powerful episode. Listen above or below.
