Do You: Let ‘Em Boo

Day 15 “Do You: Let ‘Em Hate” #IMAYBE Share & Let’s Live! #Podcast Series w/ Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist

Today, I came to the realization that my life is so much more fun when I don’t worry about other people’s opinions or criticism.

Meme Image of crowd of people booing, some with thumbs down. Text states: “It’s way more fun to not give a sh*t what other people think. It’s so much better to: care less about other people’s opinions, looking silly, comments, and criticism... to just do you and not care.” — Marlene Dillon Empowerment Specialist mdillondesigns.com/blog
Press play to listen to today’s podcast. FYI I cuss so wait ’til the kids and elders aren’t around. Blessings!

If I’m totally honest with myself, I have tried to do all I could to avoid criticism for most of my life and 1) I was still criticized and 2) I’ve missed out on so many things I would’ve really enjoyed and likely would’ve been great at due to that fear.

So as I am shifting my “I am” statements—those internal rules about who I get to be, what I get to do, where I get to go and so on…. It’s time to accept that I am whoever I say I am, and get to do whatever I decide to do, and go where I want to go AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, I get to not care what anyone thinks about it.

I have my core values and ethics that will guide me toward doing what isn’t directly or intentionally hurting anyone else. So I get to just enjoy my life and stop worrying who’s watching, criticizing, or questioning my right to do so. Just the thought of that brings me peace.

It’s a little scary… but that’s just habit. I’ve practiced being afraid of their opinions for a VERY long time. AND I get to form a new habit. And so do you.
