Some people are not fond of the fall and winter. I’m one of them. As much as I try to game myself into an appreciation for the changing leaves, it’s not necessarily that effective, since I deal with S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and have most of my life.

So in addition to things being heavy right now, and dealing with some tough stuff personally, SAD season is creeping in so I’m taking a little hiatus from some of my regular work and shifting things with my podcast posting schedule to balance out my energy needs.

Sharing some information on S.A.D. because I dealt with it the majority of my life and didn’t realize the correlation with the seasons until a therapist pointed it out to me about 2 years ago. I just knew I’d be depressed for 6 months every year, since I was probably a preteen.
So maybe this will be helpful to you or someone you know.
Here’s some info from a brief Google search:
“Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that occurs during specific seasons, usually fall and winter. It’s characterized by a seasonal pattern of symptoms that can vary from mild to severe.
Some symptoms of SAD include:
Decreased energy or fatigue
Difficulty concentrating or remembering
Changes in appetite or sleep
Unplanned weight changes
Physical aches or pains
Thoughts of death or suicide
Feelings of hopelessness, guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness
Loss of interest in activities
Slowed movements or speech
SAD is more common in people living in places with shorter daylight hours in the winter. It’s sometimes called “winter depression” because symptoms are usually more apparent and severe during that season.
SAD can be treated with light therapy, antidepressant medicines, talk therapy, or vitamin D supplements.
If you think you may be suffering from SAD, you should talk to your health care provider or mental health specialist.
This is for informational purposes only. For medical advice or diagnosis, consult a professional.”
Hope this is helpful to you.
